Personal Statement

My name is Adalvis Benitez Dominguez and i was born on February 12th 2002, in Los Angeles California. I live with both of my parents and only one of my siblings who is younger than me. My older Sibling currently serves in the united states navy and is on active duty. At this current time i am a senior who is attending Foshay Learning Center. Outside of school i love spending time with my friends and i am a very social person. i love spending time with my family and think family is one of the most important things in the world to anyone. 

The drive of my life as a whole is to make my mother and father proud of me. My mother and father to me are the hardest working people i know and their hard work is what drives me to be the one to put a smile on their face. i would have to say that my mother is the one that pushes me the most not only verbally but just her existing to me is something that pushes me. At a very young age my mother was taken away from me due to her residential status of this "free" Country we live in. Although my mother was taken away from me, nothing really changed i would still do the things i needed to do succeed in school the ways i needed to succeed, but of course my mother was not with me which made me very sad.

When i was young o loved to spend time with my older brother and either play video games with him or play baseball with him. Spending time with him was one of the only true ways i got any excitement. My older brother was one of my first ever best friends and having him around was one of the best feelings ever. Just relaxing and talking with him is just cool to me. With him leaving to the navy and all that, he still finds a way to get in touch with me and to still have that connection with me. 

Music to me is something that has played an important factor in my life. From as long as i can remember my brother first introduced me to music at a young age. i remember this one time he found an i pod and then started to download music and i would steal the iPod when he wasn't there and listen to his music. although i did not understand what the people were saying i liked the vibe of rappers like Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Waka Flaka Flame, and chief keef. Its not until i started listening to Young Thug's music where i found myself and who i truly was as a person. To me Young Thug is an inspiration because during his rise to fame people would call him gay and these weird things about him when in reality young thug was normal. I feel like sometimes we can all feel like we are Young Thug in a way, we may feel like we do not belong or we aren't cool enough to fit in but in the end if we just continue doing what we do we will be successful despite what others have to say about us.

In the end after high school my plan is to be successful like anybody else would want too. i plan to go to college and study. i plan to repay my parents for all their hard work providing for me and giving me all the opportunity that they have given me.
